ABOUT US

Our Mission is to assist, honor, and support the military men and women/ service members/personnel who have so bravely served and sacrificed for our country.
We further vow to help the seriously injured who are assigned to Naval Regional Medical Center, Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, 29 Palms and Fort Irwin as well as those who are going through rehabilitation in the San Diego area.

Since being formed live on the air by our founder, Mr. Rick Roberts of KFMB Radio Station, and in partnership with the San Diego Navy League Council, which gives us our status as a 501c3 Foundation, we have been able to help our warriors both financially and with gifts in kind.

The Warrior Foundation has taken on a life of its own. We offer a very direct avenue for patriotic citizens to help assist those who are fighting the war against terrorism. We have FOUR GROUPS of Warriors which the Foundation will now, with your generous support, be able to continue helping.

Our FIRST GROUP is the S.I.’s or Seriously Injured who come home from Iraq or Afghanistan via Germany with immediate needs, both medical and emotional. We fly in family members and provide them with accommodations, transportation, and anything else that will enable them to just concentrate on helping their Warrior with his or her recovery.

The SECOND GROUP of Warriors have suffered from exposure to blast from IED’s, some even from as many as seven different explosions. The Warrior Foundation has been able to provide over 2000 handheld computers to those Warriors located in the Veterans Brain and Injury Center, to help with their short-term memory loss.

Those in our THIRD GROUP have been going through physical therapy and occupational therapy for 4 years or longer. These are the Warriors whom we have been able to help in numerous ways. Through the help and generosity of our patriotic contributors and volunteers, we have been able to provide a new kitchen and computer café, as well as a 10-man, wheelchair capable minibus and van to help transport these Warriors to different events throughout San Diego County. Warrior Foundation also assists injured military members with extenuating circumstances, after they have been medically retired. For example, we have helped a number of our special amputee's to set up households.   The most important thing we have been able to do for our heroes for the past couple of years has been to place a round trip ticket into each and every one of our Warriors’ hands so that they could wake up in their own hometowns and in their own beds on Christmas morning with their families.

Finally, our FOURTH GROUP is those Warriors who have been medically retired and remain in our community. We want to keep these great citizens in the San Diego area where we can continue to help them as they transition back into civilian life. We have worked with these Warriors and they tell us that what they need and want is a place called Freedom Station—a support center to assist with the transition back into civilian life— and we are working hard to get it for them.

Please join us in our efforts to build Freedom Station, a Transitional Opportunity Center for our injured Military. ‘Helping Injured Warriors Help Themselves.’

Created as a center for counsel, for care, and as a beacon for achievement in the future, we present Freedom Station.

We ask you to help us in this journey to provide a center for the recovery, healing, job counseling, trade and skills education, as well as transitional mediation for our ‘heroes of sacrifice’ and to help them forge the road to recovery and education in pursuit of their dreams.

The Board of Directors announced today the beginning of fundraising efforts for the new Freedom Station Project in San Diego, California. According to Sandy Lehmkuhler, Vice President of Freedom Station USA, there are a small number of sites under consideration.

Freedom Station will be a short-term residence and transitional assistance facility for our wounded and injured military. The goal is to open this center during the next 12 months, so that recovering Marines, Navy, and Army injured can take advantage of job opportunities, counseling, skills training, and time to adjust from the challenges of their injured and military life to that of productive citizens.

Funding for Freedom Station will be through local and national private donations. For more information, contact us through our site, www.freedomstation.org or contact Jim Moss at jjumoss@freedomstation.org
